TEAM 3DMJ SPONSORED ATHLETE - RICHARD KNAPP Appleton, Wisconsin Interview With 3DMJ for April 2010
RK: Amazing! I have never looked this good for a show to date. After my workouts, I hit poses in the locker room mirror and not to blow my own horn, but I amaze myself. All I can think is “this is sick” (in a good way). 3DMJ: Recently, you had the opportunity to meet up with your fellow TEAM 3DMJ sponsored athlete, Jason Bosak, for an epic training session. Describe what it was like to train with a quality athlete such as Jason. RK: All I can say is it was amazing. It was kind of funny, when we met up in the parking lot we were in jackets and winter clothing. I will be honest, my first thought was “cool this is happening” and my second was “dang he doesn't look that big”. Then after we changed for our workout, the animal came out! The boy is huge! His upper arms are the size of my head, and here I sit at 137 lbs. But, I held my own and we had a grueling and intense workout. We shared a few tricks and tips with one another and boy, Jason can push some amazing weight even on his cutting diet. He has great concentration and knows how to push his training partner. We did a chest and bicep day and polished it off with a few extra sets just for fun. It was a little different because we both were out of our element being in a gym neither of us works out in, so he had to search for equipment. We took some pictures and videos and then we went out to eat. But, we both kept to our macros. We had some time so we went to the mall to just hang out afterwards and that was funny. If it wasn't me going to the can, it was Jason! Jason and his wife Britt are great people. Even with the age difference (they are young enough to be our kids) we got along great. I hated to see the day end. In my book, 3DMJ couldn't have picked a better person. They both are down to earth, responsible and respectable people. They will always be welcome in my house and Jason is a team mate for life. I will work out with him again in the future. 3DMJ: How has training been going as of late? RK: I have incorporated more free weights into my workout, as I have been finding ways to do it. I can tell the cut diet is affecting my strength some days, but I still make a PR here and there. I did have a spill getting into my chair from the Hand bike one day and hurt my right deltoid, but we watched it and it is almost 100%. I can feel that something did happen to it now and again but I will be fine for the shows. I just have to keep listening to my body on training days when it says “okay I’m done”. I have to listen so that it fully heals and so that I don't mess it up worse and end up being down for a longer time. 3DMJ: Have there been any changes that have been put in place by you or TEAM 3DMJ? RK: Well normally I make no adjustments during prep so that I don't shock the body. But this time the list is long. I never supplemented much. But in learning from Team 3DMJ about the body’s needs for nutrients I have made some vast changes. 1. I watch my Leucine levels very closely. I supplement Leucine first thing in morning and at night to hit my macros and get the levels I need. This has made some wonderful changes to my physique. 2. I never did macro tracking before, just calories and protein. Now I track it all, since they work as a unit. 3. I am not at this time a Rep for All American EFX, but Jason turned me on to AAEFX supplements. I am very adamant about being and staying 100% Natural, so I did extensive research on them. I liked what I read. Their products are screened 3 times during production for being drug free, so I tried them. I know everyone’s body chemistry is different, but for me I have never had such awesome results. Like I stated earlier, I have never looked this good or diced as the way I am with the help of 3DMJ and AAEFX. These 2 will remain in my trust and in my core. 4. I never had much variety in my cutting diets before, but I have been eating an unbelievable variety of food with only good results. 3DMJ: How have these changes helped in your prep?
3DMJ: On April 10th you will be hitting the stage for your first show of the year at the INBF Central USA Natural, are you ready and what are you expecting out of yourself from this first show? RK: I am expecting to show a totally outstanding high quality physique, and I will be a great representation for Wheelchair bodybuilders everywhere. I hope in my appearance that I will influence more WCBB’ers to start competing and hopefully the INBF will offer the class at more shows. They (WCBBers) have nothing to lose but everything to gain. This is also why I started the “WCBBers Group” forum: http://wcbbers.47.forumer.com Thank you 3DMuscleJourney.com for being a part of it. 3DMJ: Good luck Richard and we are proud of you!
