TEAM 3DMJ SPONSORED ATHLETE - JASON BOSAK

Central Midwest Natural -  Medium Tall Division Champ

On May 8th, TEAM 3DMJ's sponsored athlete, Jason Bosak took to the stage in dominating fashion by winning the medium tall class at the Central Midwest Natural Bodybuiding Championships. Entering his first ever contest, Jason graced the stage with tremendous size, conditioning and terrific symmetry.

Here is an unedited excerpt straight from Jason's forum thread over at bodybuilding.com,

"Man! Where to start!? This is going to be really difficult to put down in writing, because I still haven't even processed the whole thing myself! The thing I know for sure is that I'm very tired and very sore lol.

Britt and I made the 4 1/2 hour drive to Des Moines friday afternoon, got registered, and polygraphed...the Polygraph guys were hilarious btw! I was their last competitor of the night, so they broke out the booze the second they were done with me lol. I then heard story after story of people who failed polygraphs and the excuses that come with them.

I Talked to Eric Friday night to make sure I had everything set for the morning. Britt slapped a coat of dreamtan #2 on me, and we went to bed..not to sleep... but to bed. I tried and tried, but I don't know if I got 20 minutes of sleep before it was time to get up, pose and eat my first meal. After eating and posing throughout the morning, I was looking spot on. Everything was looking hard and tight. I then went to the meeting in the morning. I met Brian (musclemass22) at the meeting, and it was awesome talking to him! I ended up talking to him quite a bit throughout the course of the day. I know Britt was thankful he and his wife were there, as she really enjoyed the company! It was fairly unplanned, itinerary-wise, and they made it sound like everything was going to go much faster than I had planned on. So I rushed back to the hotel, after the meeting and scarfed down another meal, put on another coat of dream tan, posed, and rushed in another meal and got back to the auditorium. After I got there, I realized I probably shouldn't have thrown off my meals, since they were running pretty far behind where they should have been. So then I was sitting there, while all the figure girls were backstage, so I couldn't really get back there...and there were no mirrors for me to assess how I was looking. We were doing a pretty aggressive load for the show, so if I noticed I was starting to spill, I was going to go through some pump up and posing to help maintain just the right level. Well by the time I could fit backstage, I didn't have time to check anything out, or to adjust. I ate what was supposed to be my 30 mins out meal, and then realized I was going to be going on in more like 5-10 mins, since they were getting through the men's classes so fast. So I ate my pre-stage "meal" and was called to get into line. I did about 10 lateral raises, and about 20 push ups while I was in line. Everything seemed so hectic, fast, and out! I was literally on the floor trying to get some sort of pump going when the guy told us to get out there.

Prejudging
I was the lowest number in my group of 6. I had no idea how I was looking, but I knew it would be between myself and one other guy. I know you guys know the outcome, so I won't try to make it suspenseful. lol. But Brian wasn't lying when he said the pics don't do him justice. Watching him pump up backstage for the finals, he was looking SICK. He was one of the leanest guys in the show.

Well being the lowest number, I walked out first and started at the very end. We got set and hit out front relaxed. I looked out at the judges and and noticed a good portion of them were looking directly at me. So right off the bat, BOOM, I've got some confidence out there. I'm thinking "Yeah Buddy! I'm the one who caught their initial attention" Because you always hear that most of the judging occurs on the very first impression. So they call to rearrange the order, and I'm expecting to hear my number to go the center.... well.. I didn't hear my number. They moved the guy who ended up taking 2nd to the right-center spot. SO then I was like 'damn!', but then right after that, they called me into the left center spot. At that point, the guy I had pegged as my toughest competition was standing right on the center X. Well then they had us all shift 2 steps, and that put me right on the center X. So I had quite a bit of confidence going through the prejudging.

Well after the prejudging, I was flying pretty high, feeling good. I'm not gonna lie, I felt pretty damn confident, but kept trying to talk myself down. I didn't want to show up to finals expecting to win my class, so I really tried to talk myself down. I looked at the pics Brian (Musclemass22) posted on here, and I wasn't too happy with how I looked in them. But I also knew they were from a pretty bad angle. And seeing how much less impressive the 2nd place winner looks in them, compared to real life, I tried not to worry about that too much. I went back to the hotel, and FINALLY was able to check how I was looking. Honestly, I wasn't too happy. My timing was off really bad on my meals, and having no chance to correct anything, It looked as though I had spilled. Well Eric saw the pics on here and thought the same thing, so we adjusted the meals accordingly.

So the night show started with a "walk through" where all the competitors lined up on either side of the stage. The competitors then walk out two at a time (one from each side of the stage) hit 1 pose and walk off the stage. So as Brian mentioned earlier, we ended up being lined up across from each other, so we got to take the stage at the same time, which was super fun! We walked out, hit a little fist bump, and struck a pose.

I decided I'd just bring everything to the venue for the finals, so that there was no driving back and forth, eliminating some of the rushing. The promoter told us were supposed to be fully clothed, unless we were backstage... with no backstage entrances, and dreamtan being banned in the premises, my tan was off in the morning, as well, since much of it had come off on my clothing. Well for the finals, we just did whatever it took to come in looking better. I kept tabs on myself in the public Men's Restroom. I kept myself in check with a lot of posing, and was able to adjust my food intake based on my level of fullness. Britt and I also managed to get backstage early for the finals, in order to eliminate the rushing. When we got back there, no one was using the spray tan booths, so the guy running them told us we could go ahead and use them to throw on a fresh coat of dream tan. Brit slapped a coat on me quick, and I came out looking like a new man! I immediately started getting compliments on my color from others backstage!

Backstage, I was really able to get a chance to talk to a lot of the guys, and let me tell you, there was some TOUGH competition!!! I was a spectator at last year's Mr. Minnesota, and I can say with certainty that the guy who won the OVERALL at last years show would NOT have placed better than 3rd in the short class here. And the guy who won the tall class at that show would have struggled to make top 4 in the tall class at this show. So needless to say, I knew going in, that if I took my class, I wouldn't be winning the overall... but I REALLY wanted a chance to get to posedown with these awesome guys!

I also noticed the guy who I eventually beat out to win my class, and I remember watching him pump up, and thinking "holy sh*t! That guy is shredded!" He was well put together, and looking sick. It's really hard for me to visualize how I look compared to someone else, and as I looked at him, I thought, "holy crap...I don't know if I beat this guy!"

I was then able to take my time pumping up, and was able to hit my timing on my precontest meals. Everything came together pretty good for my night routine. I felt like I was standing out there without any music for FOREVER! So I ended up getting antsy and jumped the gun a bit... that kind of threw me off, but it still looked fine, I'm sure. Britt recorded it, but accidentally hit the stop button, so it's in two pieces.

Well after my routine, they brought us out as a group for awards. They started calling them out so fast, that I could hardly tell what was going on. I just kept shuffling around, and would barely get to reset into my front relaxed, before they'd call out another award. They then announced another award and I still hadn't realized that they had given awards to everyone but myself. So as I stood around confused, they called my name as class winner!"

SO I went backstage with my trophy, still not having taken in what just happened. Then I start getting people telling me about peeing in a cup, and others telling me about going back on, and my head was getting dizzy! I honestly felt pretty overwhelmed. Brian will have to tell me if I'm getting his name right, Jason Cayman??? Who was one of the hardest dudes I'd ever seen was about to walk out for the tall class. He is probably 6'1" and fills out his frame nicely at a completely dry 204 lbs! He congratulated me and said "see you out there in a minute! lol. I knew the overall would be between him and this Liam (sp?) guy, who was a British pro champion, and is was honestly leaner than an IFBB pro! I knew I didn't have it, but I posed my heart out, and I had the time of my life! I got to pose down with some ridiculous bodybuilders, and didn't even look silly doing it, so I am pretty damn happy with that. Just hanging out with Jason, and some of the other guys backstage, I think I was the biggest guy in the show, but guys like Jason were just WAY too good. He had that crazy-dense muscle maturity that comes with being an (I think he said) 18 year competitor! He actually won his Masters' Card at this show, earlier, since he just turned 40.

The two of those guys were going head to head, and I would have given the Nod to big Jason, but at one point, Liam hiked up his trunks to reveal the CRAZIEST glutes ever seen on a live human...if he was actually even alive. He basically seemed dead, backstage, as he was so tired, cramped and dehydrated. At one point, I gave him a rice cake because he said he was so depleted, and he honestly ate it like his life depended on it!...Well anyways...he hiked up his trunks and the crowd went CRAZY. After the show Jason was saying, "I thought I had it until I saw him hiking up his trunks out of the corner of my eye....then when I heard the crowd respond, I knew it was over!"

So needless to say, They announced Liam the winner, and no one could argue with that!

I know I wasn't second, but could potentially see myself 3rd in the overall. But 3rd or 4th, it doesn't matter! I had a hell of a time, and even though it was the most draining experience of my life, I can't wait to do it again!"

Jason will be competing again on May 22nd where he plans on attaining his natural pro card at the Natural Mr. Minnesota. Check back for upcoming results!
