"THE NATURAL MOVEMENT"

PROMOTING 100% NATURAL ATHLETES

November/December 2009

MICHAEL POLIS, 20, Montgomery, Alabama, USA - "I have been working out since high school, but began to train more towards bodybuilding within the last two years." Michael placed 2nd in the Novice Lightweight at the 2009 Clash at the Capstone. Michael also has achieved personal bests in the bench press - 315 lbs., deadlift - 385 lbs. and the squat - 355 lbs. Michael's reason for choosing the natural route, "Growing up, my parents always told me that nothing in life came easy. I am a very self-motivated person and I am willing to put in the work it takes in order for me to get to where I need to be. I train naturally because I don't believe in shortcuts or easy ways to achieve goals. I believe in hard work. Not taking anything away from athletes who use performance-enhancing agents, but I would rather see how far I can take my body naturally. Besides, it makes bodybuilding more of a challenge!" Michael's future goals, "I am taking the 2010 season off from competing. I plan on adding some more size to my frame and bringing up my weak points. I plan on competing again in the 2011 season with better conditioning, size, and symmetry." Michael's advice for other naturals, "Learn all you can about proper training and nutrition. There is plenty of scientific research and helpful resources available out there that will help you gain knowledge you need to achieve your goals. As Bruce Lee once said, "Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own." Well said Michael!
