3DMJ: How long have you been training?

DM: since November 2009

3DMJ: List your accomplishments as a natural athlete.

DM: INBA America's Gateway Bodybuilding Championship: 1st place teen ( 18-19) 1st place Jr ( 19-22) 1st place Mr. Physique 1st place Sports Model 3rd place Hunt-Fitness Classic

3DMJ: What are future goals/contests?

DM: Continue to build lean mass and then compete about one year from now and earn a natural bodybuilding Pro card.

3DMJ: Describe why you have decided to train naturally.

DM: I have decided to train without drugs because the purpose of bodybuilding is to build the body. You cannot do this by having the outside of the body reflect health and lean mass while the organs of the body are suffering greatly and breaking down internally. I am a strong catholic and believe in making my body a temple of the Holy Spirit. I do not want the outside refection to be any different than the inside and vice versa. I love knowing that I am doing all I can with what God gave me. I like knowing that I've EARNED my results and was not aided in any way other way than sheer determination and dedication to the sport. I train naturally because I want to be a positive influence on the people around me. Taking illegal drugs does not seem to be the best route if that is my end goal. I want others to know that they can change their body, and in my opinion, their lives for the better through natural hard work in the gym and a proper diet. I want them to know that they can be confident in their own skin and happy with themselves because they know they are making a difference every time they step in the gym or don't eat junk food (except for that exceptional/ planned cheat meal). It is important to me that they can feel this sense of empowerment and know that they are living healthier, not only for themselves, but for their loved ones. Through a bodybuilding lifestyle, a person can achieve a longer, healthier and hopefully happier life because they WILL be there for their families and friends at 50,60,70, and 80-plus years old! This is all because they took care of their bodies. Show me a drug abusing bodybuilder that is confident that they will be able to see their children's children and maybe even their children's, children's, children and I will be impressed. It is a selfish sport but it doesn't have to mean poor health, because bodybuilding at its best, is exercise and nutrition. It should be a positive thing to that individual and the community.

3DMJ: Any other information or advice you would like to share with other natural athletes.

DM: Bodybuilding is a lifestyle. It is the combination of learning the body (your body), and what makes you perform the best. Keep track of your progress and your meals. Remember the great empire of Rome was not built in one day and neither is a natural quality physique. Learn as much as you can, and experiment with everything to find out what works for YOU! Everyone is different and responds differently. Be patient with the results, have fortitude, ignore/fight the pain in the gym because that means you’re doing it RIGHT and you'll get the results you are seeking. Good luck and get after it!
