3DMJ: How long have you been training?

Davey Briggs: 8 years

3DMJ: List your accomplishments as a natural athlete.

Davey Briggs: Since getting involved in the sport of bodybuilding I have entered 2 natural competitions. In my first show (Natural Physique Associations Mike Williams Classic) I placed 3rd in my class and won the "best first timer of the tournament" trophy. This show qualified me to compete in the Natural Physique Associations British Finals where I placed 5th in my class. Since this show I have gained employment as a trainer in a local gym and am looking forward to taking to the stage once more.

3DMJ: What are future goals/contests?

Davey Briggs: I plan to take my physique to its very peak and compete at the highest level in British Natural bodybuilding. I will be competing in the BNBF, NPA and UKDFBA (the British arm of the WNBF). This year and I plan to qualify for the British finals in all 3 organizations and show significant improvements since my last competition. Most of all I want to enjoy the season and meet as many new and old friends as possible. Also I would like to help bring as many people as possible join the natural bodybuilding movement through my work as a trainer.

3DMJ: Describe why you have decided to train naturally.

Davey Briggs: I began training after being involved in a near fatal car accident while out running when I was 16. In this accident I was hospitalized for a long period of time and I was told I would not be able to a lot of things I had previously took for granted. The damage to my right shoulder was so severe they did not believe it would ever regain full strength. After finishing physiotherapy I became very determined to make my physique into something I could be proud of instead of something I was embarrassed about. The decision to train naturally is very simple to me as life is very finite and to jeopardize it for the sake of appearance is not something that should be done. Staying natural is about it being all you. It has taken longer to build my body due to the accident but it has been an amazing journey and it was all worth it when I stood on stage knowing I had brought my best.

3DMJ: Any other information or advice you would like to share with other natural athletes.

Davey Briggs: Competition seems to bring out the very best in people. Sacrifice, humility and discipline can be carried over into all elements of life and will always yield good things. Stay strong, stay natural and be proud of what you have achieved.
