Under: 2009 Capital City Journey
I had another good week of contest prep. I am now down to 178 lbs. I was 177 yesterday but I felt really tired so I decided to raise my carbs yesterday to give me my energy back. I feel a lot better today and I gained a pound but I look and feel better.
Diet
My diet went well this week. I decided to drop my carbs slightly because I felt I was starting to get a little stagnant. I dropped them on Tuesday through Thursday. This seemed to work as I continue to lose the weight with no strength losses or muscle loss. Yesterday I did raise them back up due to fatigue but I also did 4 hours of yard work in the sun so I think that had something to do with my fatigue as well. Today as I write this I will level my carbs back out. For the week coming up I will continue the same pattern.
Training
My training is still going really well. I am improving on most of my exercises. I continue to shoot for 5 repetitions on most exercises. My plan is to keep my reps low but with the heaviest possible weight with good form to ensure I keep my muscle and maybe gain muscle. In the past I have had my strength actually decrease at this point in my contest prep but I think this time it will be different. I will continue this plan for this week also.
Cardio
I still have not got back on my cardio. I am still dropping weight without it and I am keeping my strength and actually improving my strength at this time. I still will consider cardio if my weight starts to slow down but at this time it is working. I will not do cardio next week.
Everything is going as planned and I seem to be making good progress. There still is almost 4 months to go so I have plenty of time to reach my goals. One day at a time!
I try to write a blog once per week. I usually do it on Friday nights or Saturday morning. This one happens to be Saturday morning.
Until my next blog! Have a good week and train hard!

Welcome to my 3DMuscleJourney! As many of you know I created this website back in January '09 to journal my training leading up to the '09 INBF Capital City Championships. Since then the site has seen some incredible changes, including the formation of Team 3DMJ. I'm very proud of all the great changes to the site and it couldn't have been remotely possible without the help from all my teammates, family and friends! My 2011 contest season was a huge success with a few division titles and a trip to the IFPA Yorton Cup World Championships where I proudly finished 7th in a very competitive middleweight lineup. I'm officially in my offseason and you are more than welcome to follow along! jeffalberts@3dmusclejouney.com
