I did not get to a blog last week, I was busy with getting ready for my San Diego vacation and other things I was busy with. I just got back from visiting my sister-in-law and her boyfriend in sunny San Diego. I went with my wife and my friend David. We left on Saturday morning and got back yesterday, it was a great time with family and friends with plenty of good food! Not healthy, but tasty! On Saturday we arrived in the late afternoon, we hit the beach first and then we ate mexican food on the coast at Las Olas. I had a couple of chicken enchiladas and too many tortilla chips with salsa!

My wife and I enjoying the beach together.

San Diego Sunset

The next morning on Sunday we hit another good local breakfast place called "Pipes", known for where the local surfers eat, I had what they called a big breakfast, eggs, potatoes, french toast, english muffin and bacon. I did not eat the bacon though, like it really mattered after eating all that! We then went to downtown San Diego and walked around Little Italy.

We stopped in for some gelatos (italian ice cream), and yes, I know, it is bad food again but it is a vacation!

Myself, my friend David L., David B. and my sister Tiffany enjoying the gelatos.

On one of the street posts I noticed a Jack Lalanne picture on the post and I could not resist taking a picture next to it.

Myself with the fitness icon himself, Jack Lalanne, before he was known for his juice machines.

We stopped by my sisters work to use the facilities, (she works in S.D.) and low and behold they had a scale! I have not weighed myself since August 15th, the day of my last contest. I debated over whether I should weigh myself because I know I have not been very strict with my diet as of late. I am not as dedicated in the off season as I am in my contest prep training. I do like to eat! I know I have gained weight and in my mind I am not going to go over 190 lbs this off season. After a short debate in my head I decided to do it. With my clothes and shoes on I weighed in at 190 lbs. That was a little frustrating to see but it was good because it is a mental reminder, now I need to get back on track and be more serious. Although at this weight I still can see a little bit of abs and quad cuts. In the past at this weight, I would have seen just about nothing. Later that night we went out to eat and I had Terriyaki Chicken and then we did a little dancing. Well I did very little dancing! It is funny I can dance at home in private but in front of people I freeze up. You would think, I can get in front of hundreds of people in my skimpy posing trunks and yet, I can't dance in front of people, go figure! On Monday my sis's boyfriend, David, had to work so we brought him lunch to his worksite. We had McDonalds, I know you probably are figuring, what the hell?! You are supposed to be a pro bodybuilder! I did good and I only had 2 plain grilled chicken sandwiches. We then headed out after lunch and looked at some apartments and condos in the area, as we are thinking about heading that way sometime after I get laid off. We are keeping our options open at this time, we will see what happpens when it happens. After David got back from work we headed to 24 hr fitness and we did a great leg workout. We hit some hack squats, leg curls, toe presses and decline sit ups. It was a very good workout and it was a little different training at a public gym as I am used to training at home. The different machines were a good change and I am still sore after that workout. David is looking to compete in 2011 and we are in the process of guiding him in the right direction. He has the structure for it, now we just have to execute our plan and he will make his contest debut in 2011! After our workout we went to eat Italian with my wife and her sister and my friend David.

Having dinner with the San Diego crew!

We then went to the store and bought some supplies for smores on the beach! This was a great time!

Roasting marshmallows by the fire at the beach.

Nice and toasty!

Enjoying the richness of roasted marshmallows, Three Musketeers and Graham Crackers with "That Guy" David B. in the back!

By the way there are two Davids, my friend David and my sisters boyfriend David. My sisters boyfrend David, is the one who wants to compete in 2011. I know confusing! Tuesday came around and it was time to head back home, we headed back to Pipes for some coffee and then we started our seven hour drive back to Northern California. I have the rest of the week off and I am thankful for that. I am trying to catch up on the site and I have added a couple more athletes to the site. For today I am getting ready to do a hard upper body workout. I am also ready to eat healthy again as I had my share of junk food the last few days in San Diego. Until my next blog keep training hard and naturally!
