Today was my first day of training and dieting. I woke up wanting to keep eating all that bad food I have been accustomed to eating. It is a long road to July so I need to be patient and not consume myself. Just take each day as they come. This is a sport that takes a lot of patience and you have to realize it otherwise you will go crazy. My diet went good today except I didn't get my sixth meal in because I got up late today and I couldn't fit all of my meals in. Here is how it broke down today.
meal one- 1 cup shredded wheat, 1 1/4 scoop whey and 3 almonds
meal two- 7/8 cup mashed sweet potatoes, 4oz ground turkey breast, and 1/2 tbsp olive oil
meal three- same as meal one
meal 4- same as meal two
meal 5- same as meal one
I drank quite a bit of water and I was using the bathroom quite frequently. Probably due to the low sodium intake and my carbs are at a regular level now compared to all that junk food I am used to eating.
I also did my first cardio session today on an empty stomach in the morning before my first meal. I did the recumbent stationary bike for 20 minutes at 60% max heart rate. I was breaking a good sweat since this was my first session in quite some time.
I trained upper body today. I have four different weight training sessions 2 for upper body and 2 for lower body. Today was upper body 1 which consisted of the following:
1. Smith Machine Bench Press 3 sets
2. Bent Over Rows 2 sets
3. Underhand Lat Pulldowns 2 sets
4. Behind the Neck Press 2 sets
5. Barbell Shrugs 2 sets
6. Lying Tricep Press 2 sets
7. Cambered Bar Curls 2 sets
I train to positive failure. Lifting as heavy as I can. I felt pretty strong considering I ate pizza, sub sandwich, Doritos, and a big piece of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream as my last meal before my diet. Here is some pics of my last cheat meal before my diet. Myself and my brother Michael checking out the awesome spread!!
All in all a good start to my contest prep. Check back for more blogs!
