Under: 2009-2010 Off Season
This week has been another busy week. I have been working, training and working on the website. Work is getting tougher and tougher to get motivated for. As a lot of you know my work is going to shut its doors in March. I have been working at NUMMI (New United Motor Inc.) for the past 16 years and they have decided to close the plant. We make the Toyota Corollas and the Tacoma pickups. It is a scary time but at the same time I am looking forward to the change. My daily schedule is crazy and sometimes I wonder how I am able to do it everyday. I thought I would share my schedule so you can see a typical daily schedule for me.
3:30 a.m. wake up
4:20 a.m. drive to work (70 miles each way)
5:45 a.m. eat meal #1 in the car
6:00 a.m. start work
8:30 a.m. break and meal #2
11:15 a.m. lunch and meal #3
12:00 p.m. back to work
2:30 p.m. get off work and meal #4 in the car then drive home
4:15 p.m. get back home from 70 mile drive
4:30 p.m. meal #5
5:00 p.m. train
6:30 p.m. meal #6
7:00 p.m. - ? work on website and other things
?? try to get to bed at a decent time but that never seems to happen.
When I am training for a show it is even crazier! One hour of cardio on top of that crazy schedule is brutal. Because of my schedule I am so looking forward to changing jobs so that my life can have more quality time in it. I just don't have enough time to get everything done I would like done. When I do get a little time I am just too tired to do what I want to do. Crazy!!
My training is going really well and my lifts are getting better. I am starting to increase my intensity in my workouts. In a couple more weeks I should have most of my strength back. On Saturday I had a great workout and I did Upper body 2 workout. Here are a couple of shots from that workout.

Doing a tough set of Hammer Curls!

Decline Sit Ups with three 45's!

I am feeling good again about my training and I am totally focused on my goals for next year. Depending on next years contest schedule I am focused on doing the pro show here in California. If I do well there I will give the World Championships a try. We will see what happens next year. I will just keep training hard to make improvements.
On Sunday my wife and I went and seen her Dad and spent the day together just messing around. We went out to breakfast and I splurged and had a country fried steak and eggs with hash browns. I know this is not good for me but I could not resist! After breakfast we did a little window shopping and just hung out and had a good time. We then went to dinner and again I was bad. I had a double cheeseburger from Red Robins. It tasted really good but I felt really guilty after that. I do not know why I do that to myself? It only leaves me feeling guilty and depressed. I am so used to being in contest shape and now that I am gaining weight back it is a little depressing. However I know in the back of my mind that it is very difficult to put on more muscle if I am always in contest shape. I just have to get used to a little extra weight but not too much! Anyways, my father-in-law has always encouraged me in the sport and has been trying to get me to put together workout videos. He has been a positive influence on me and for that I really appreciate everything he has done for me and my wife. He is truly a great role model.

I also finished another feature on the site, Ricky Smith. Ricky is an awesome person whom I had the opportunity to meet about 7 years ago when I did the Texas Shredder Championships. At 52 years of age he inspires me to keep pushing forward knowing I still have many years in the sport I love. Check out his feature

Also on Saturday I will be going back up to Sacramento to train with my friend Eric Helms and Alberto Nunez. Eric is 1 week out from his next pro qualifier. I am also taking some more pictures of him for the site showing his progress at the 1 week out mark. Alberto is a WNBF pro and he is getting ready for the 2011 contest season but I am trying to talk him into competing in 2010. It should be a great day of training and hanging with the guys. Anyways until next week keep training hard and naturally!

Welcome to my 3DMuscleJourney! As many of you know I created this website back in January '09 to journal my training leading up to the '09 INBF Capital City Championships. Since then the site has seen some incredible changes, including the formation of Team 3DMJ. I'm very proud of all the great changes to the site and it couldn't have been remotely possible without the help from all my teammates, family and friends! My 2011 contest season was a huge success with a few division titles and a trip to the IFPA Yorton Cup World Championships where I proudly finished 7th in a very competitive middleweight lineup. I'm officially in my offseason and you are more than welcome to follow along! jeffalberts@3dmusclejouney.com
