Re-defining Goals
After winning my WNBF Pro Card in 2009, I thought to myself how cool it was going to be to compete at the World’s this year in New York and fulfill one of my natural bodybuilding goals. That goal remained intact up until the beginning of this contest prep and then things suddenly changed. The WNBF announced the US Pro Cup would move from the West Coast to the East Coast and that led me to re-define what my goals truly are. As a WNBF Pro, you are only allowed to do WNBF shows and since I reside on the West Coast there are no shows for me to do unless I travel. With limited opportunities to do what I love the most…get on stage, hang out with friends, and have my family in attendance...I realized I was going to have to make a difficult decision. With all this in mind, I asked myself what’s truly important for me at this juncture in my career, “go to the World’s to prove to myself I can hang with the big boys in the WNBF or switch over to the other organizations for more opportunities?” After I carefully weighed everything out, I decided to switch organizations simply because there are so many more opportunities.
My realization has come to this…it’s neither victory nor attaining a certain status that will bring me happiness in this sport. Whether I take to the stage in the WNBF, IFPA, NPC or any other organization…one fact that will remain true...the physique I present will be the same. The circumstance that will be different… who I’m actually able to share it with… and to be able to experience my journey with the one’s I love…well…that’ll make me feel like a champion on any stage.
Until my next blog keep training hard, smart and naturally!
